Purchasing and Import Manager

A leading food import company is seeking a Purchasing and Import Manager.

Purchasing Strategy

Building an annual purchasing plan in accordance with business objectives, sales forecasts, and market trends.

Identifying strategic suppliers worldwide, with an emphasis on quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.

Managing complex negotiations with international suppliers to secure optimal trade terms, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery timelines.

Product Portfolio Management

Ongoing review of the imported product portfolio and opportunities to expand the catalog according to market demand.

Collaborating with the sales department to develop new products and private-label brands.

Monitoring global food trends, technological innovations, and regulatory requirements.

Interface with the Import Department

Coordinating with the logistics and international shipping department to ensure product availability in inventory.

Monitoring compliance with international standards such as HACCP, ISO, and BRC, and understanding Ministry of Health requirements.

Handling permits, import licenses, and required health certificates.

Budgetary and Financial Control

Managing the annual purchasing budget and monitoring costs against forecasts.

Calculating import feasibility, including product cost through arrival at the warehouse, including customs duties, shipping, and storage.

Managing risks, including foreign exchange rates, delays, and quality gaps.

Supplier Relationship Management

Building long-term relationships with leading suppliers.

Conducting supplier audits abroad and ongoing quality inspections.

Resolving disputes and handling returns and defective products.

Required Skills

Significant experience in managing food purchasing and import.

Strong proficiency in international negotiations and business English.

In-depth familiarity with the Israeli food market and regulation.

Analytical abilities and experience managing complex budgets.

Understanding of logistics processes and sea freight.

Excellent interpersonal skills and team management ability.
